How to ensure your place in Heaven

  • Because Adam and Eve Disobeyed God (Gen. 3:4, 6).  We are all guilty of sin.  "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23)

  • "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned" (Rom. 5:12 NIV)

    • Their sin created a seperation between us and God

    • "So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life" (Gen. 3:24 NKJV).
  • Because of God's love for us, He made a way for us to be with Him for Eternity.

    • "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16 NKJV).

    • "For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life" Rom. 5:10 NKJV).

  • What Adam created through his disobedience (sin).  Christ corrected through His death by the shedding of His blood.

    • "For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ" (Rom. 5:17).

    • "For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous" (v. 19).

  • Our acceptance of the free gift made available through Christ, anchors our salvation and eternal place with God in heaven.

    • "But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach)- (Rom. 10:8

    • "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (v.9).

    • "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (v. 10).

    • "For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame" (v.11).

    • "For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (v. 12).
  • For those who accept Christ' penalty payment for our sins, we become children of God.

    • "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God" (Rom. 8:14).

    • "So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children.  Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” (v.15).
  • Seen by God through the lens of Jesus' Rigthteousness: NOT OURS!

    • "Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous" (Rom. 5:19).

  • We too are His beloved (His Agapetos - See Matt. 3:17).  Not because of our righteousness.  But because of the Righteousness of Jesus Christ that has been imputed in us.

    • "For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" (2 Cor. 5:21).
  • Prayer of Salvation
  • Lord Jesus, thank You for dying on the Cross and shedding Your blood for the penalty of my sins.  I accept your death for the penalty of my sins and ask You to come into my heart.  I yield my life to You.  I commit to living my life according to Your Holy Word.
